Third Hempola Family Farm Festival is on August 7 and 8, 2004

The third Hempola Family Farm Festival (now a biennial event) is going full steam with its planning and will happen August 7 and 8, 2004.
Kelly Smith, Hempola co-founder and chief organizer for the event comments, "we're delighted to move forward and stage our third festival at our farm. It's an enormous amount of time and effort in organizing and hosting such an event, but it's well worth it." The mandate of the festival is to educate and expose guests to the multitude of uses and positive impact hemp has on humanity and the environment... and where better to stage such an event than in the middle of a hemp crop at a commercial hemp farm?
"Hemp is a farm-grown raw material supplying one of Canada's positive developing industries. Hemp has outstanding potential. Most people are simply unaware or confused over hemp. At the festival we'll assemble an excellent cross-section of companies and people to demonstrate what hemp truly is and what it is capable of... and the event is great fun!" describes Smith. "This year we're attempting to gather as many of the industry's companies and for the first time stage a 'healthy hemp oil taste challenge.' We're also planning a hemp pancake eating contest -- hopefully we'll have some media celebrities enter this... money raised will go to charity. Canada is quickly developing a global reputation as innovators and leaders in hemp food development and this is one part of hemp we want to show off. There's also everything from roof shingles to high fashion... all made from hemp and all here to see. There will be industry experts on hand; the Ontario and hopefully our new national associations to talk about everything from farming hemp to its use in car parts and building materials."
The Hempola Family Farm Festival is a fun filled educational, action packed event targeted for families and people of all ages. It offers a variety of attractions including wagon rides and a guided interpretive trail through the hemp fields, musical concerts, unique arts and crafts, demonstrations and seminars on hemp products, tour an octagon hemp straw bale home (featured in the Toronto Star newspaper), there's a hemp food village as well as many attractions geared for children. The event is held at Hempola Valley Farms in the village of Dalston just north of Barrie, Ontario, Canada. Event sponsors and contributors are now being sought to help finance and stage the event.
